Anime and Manga Expo (AMX) 2017 in celebration of 100 Years of Anime

2017 is 100 years of Anime and what better way to celebrate it than a 19-day event of manga and anime appreciation. SM Center Las Pinas together with Red Cloud Interactive and Naruto Cosplayers PH (NCPH) invites you to Anime and Manga Expo (AMX) 2017 from August 1-19, 2017. This event features exhibits about anime and manga plus weekly appreciation events.

Anime and Manga Expo (AMX) 2017 at SM Center Las Pinas

Sm Center Las Pinas offers the general public with the chance to see how the Philippines appreciated anime and manga. It might not be an extravagant and very big event but it is something that is put together in order to give back to the Philippines appreciation of Japanese culture.

Event opens on August 1 at 10:00AM with an exhibit dedicated to 100 years of Anime and Manga Appreciation.

Cosplay photographers, independent artists, collectors, cosplayers, enthusiasts and more join together to create an independent exhibit that comes from the community itself. It is a showcase of what everyone loves in order to give back.

AMX 2017 event partners includes Arkadymac.com, Cosplay Against Bullying, The Dubbing Booth Company, Creativoices Productions, Jerry's Life Size Toys and Collectibles, Retro Gamers & Collectors Philippines (RGCP), Wazzup Pilipinas, Anime PH, Blue Pirate Channel, OtakuPlay PH, Reverie Wonderland, and Ayaldev.com among others.

Japanese Music Appreciation Day - August 6

It is a day exclusively dedicated to the love of Japanese Music which pays a vital role in anime itself. Join a Karaoke Competition which invites all fans of Japanese music to render a song from their favorite anime or movie.

Grand winner will receive 1,500 SM gift certificate. There will also be 2 runner-ups which will receive Php1,000 SM GC each.

Beside the karaoke contest, you can also expect performance from some of the groups that shows their love for Japanese music. There will also be a BEST COSPLAY OF THE DAY which will receive Php1,000 worth of SM GC for Best Male and Best Female.

Drawing and Manga Appreciation Day - August 13

Anime and Manga Expo (AMX) 2017 brings the love for drawing and manga on the second Sunday of August. Join a workshop on how to draw manga and comics. You are also invited to participate in a drawing contest and get a chance to win a total of Php5,000 SM gift certificate as follows:

Champion Male: Php1,500GC
Runner-Up Male (2 winners): Php500GC
Champion Female: Php1,500GC
Runner-Up Female (2 winners): Php500GC

There will also be a BEST COSPLAY OF THE DAY which will receive Php1,000 worth of SM GC for Best Male and Best Female.

AMX 2017 Cosplay Appreciation Day - August 19

Highlighting the 19-day celebration will be the Cosplay Appreciation Day which features 2 events - "Your Cosplay Sounds Familiar" and the "AMX Cosplay Battle".

Your Cosplay Sounds Familiar is a pun on Your Face Sounds Familiar. This contest is a mix of karaoke and cosplay wherein the contestant will sing the song while cosplaying a character from the anime where that song is derived. The contestant can also impersonate the singer of the song,

AMX Cosplay Battle on the other hand is a cosplay competition which focuses on Manga, Anime and any adaptation based on them. The awards and prizes are as follows:

Overall Winner: Php4,000 GC
Best Male: Php2,000 GC
Best Mecha/Armor: Php2,000 GC
Best Female: Php2,000 GC
Best Crossdress: Php2,000 GC
Best Sports/Game: Php2,000 GC

Anime Dubbing and Contest

Creativoices and the Dubbing Booth Company is also one of the partners of the event. They will be having a booth at the event where attendees can visit the booth and know more about how to be part of the voice acting community in the Philippines.

Pocholo De Leon Gonzales, founder of the organizations and dubbed as the Voice Master of the Philippines also informed us that there will be a dubbing and voice acting contest and search exclusively done for AMX 2017. The finals is set on August 19.

The contest is entitled, "Gusto Mo Bang Maging Voice Talent!" or "Do You Want to be a Voice Talent". Winner of the contest will receive a scholarship from Voiceworx

Cosplay and Photo Exhibit

Anime and Manga Expo (AMX) 2017 invited various cosplay photographers and ask them to exhibit either their photo or video. A gallery of 4 feet x 7 feet is being allocated to each of them. Here are the list of the participants so far:

Cosplay Against Bullying at AMX 2017

As part of the cosplay for a cause of the event there will be a campaign for Cosplay Against Bullying during the event. There will be an area solely dedicated for this where cosplayers can pose and join the campaign to stand up against bullying.

This campaign is jointly supported by Naruto Cosplayers PH (NCPH), Naruto Cosplayers USA, and Blue Pirate Channel.
