Anime Film "Sarusuberi: Miss Hokusai" to be shown at Nihonggo Fiesta
Award Winning film "Sarusuberi: Miss Hokusai" will be shown at Nihonggo Fiesta 2016, February 27, 2016 Saturday at Shang Cineplex Cinema 1 (6th level of the Shangri-La Plaza Mall, EDSA, Mandaluyong City). The screening is part of the Nihongo Fiesta 2016, Japan Foundation Manila's annual event celebrating the colorful culture and arts of Japan and showcasing the Japanese language.
For those who want to watch the film don;t worry because admission is free. You should be early however because umbered tickets will be issued on a first-come, first served, one ticket per person basis only from 10:00a.m. on February 27 at the entrance of Shang Cineplex Cinema 1. The film will be shown with English subtitle.
What is “Sarusuberi: Miss Hokusai” about?
The film is an untold story of Katsushika Hokusai’s daughter O-Ei: a lively portrayal of a free-spirited, utterly outspoken and highly talented woman and artist, unfolding thorough the changing seasons in Japan. Master Hokusai is one of the most globally famous Japanese artists. His works inspired Monet and Debussy. His Great Wave off Kanagawa is so iconic that it can be seen on t-shirts and coffee mugs all over the world. However, very few are aware of his daughter, and how she contributed to her father’s art.
The film already won various awards which include Jury Award at Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2015, Satoshi Kon Award and Audience Award at Fantasia International Film Festival 2015.
Nihonggo Fiesta 2016
Besides the anime film screening there will be tons of other activities at the Nihonngo Fiesta 2016. The festival will open with the 43rd Nihonggo Speech Contest at 10:30AM at Shangri-La Plaza Cinema 1.
Watch the 8th Nihonggo Quiez Bee in cooperation with the Association of Filipino Nihonggo Teachers, 11:00AM at the Shangri-La Plaza Grand Atrium.
Later in the day enjoy pure entertainment as Japan Foundation Manila bringss a JPop Concern right at the Grand Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza. See the cute and talented Kawaii 5 perform live followed by Japanese performers Diana Garnet, Joe Inoue and The Beatmotors.
