In another positive development for the Philippine Cosplay Community, the World Cosplay Summit (WCS)had officially granted the Philippines an "Observer Status" in the WCS. This means that the Philippines can now have a representative to be displayed on the World Cosplay stage in Japan and even perform. The only limitation is that as long as it is an observer status, they will not be included in the judging.
Consequently, Anime Alliance Philippines will be the official Philippine-based organization that was granted to be the caretakers and rights holder of the WCS name in the country. According to the press release made by Anime Alliance, they would continue working until the Philippines officially becomes a member of the World Cosplay Summit.
The World Cosplay Summit is a gathering of outstanding cosplayers from 20 countries in 5 continents vying for the title of World Cosplay Champion. This is an annual event held in Nagoya, Japan by TV Aichi, the founding company of the World Cosplay Summit.
If there will be someone to really thank however it would be all the cosplayers who compose the cosplay and Otaku community in the Philippines. If not for them, the community will not be vibrant, colorful, exciting and thriving as it is now. They are the real reasons why we deserve to be in the World Cosplay Summit more than anything else. They are the real heroes of this achievement.
